Presentation by: Peter Whiting Christians claim that the Bible is the Word of God, and Muslims claim that the Qur’an is the true Word of God. So what constitutes the ‘Word of God’? Do both books contain the Word of God? Do we believe that all Scripture is inspired by God? At our March presentation we will also explore statements such as ‘God doesn’t write books’ and ‘the Bible is not the Word of God - Jesus is the Word of God’. So bring along your thoughts and ideas to add to the discussion. Presentation by: Lyndy Abram, Director, Buddha House, Magill Speaker Biography: While travelling through Buddhist countries on the 'hippy trail' in 1976-7, I wanted to gain more understanding of Buddhism. As a result I attended a month-long retreat in Nepal with two Tibetan Lamas who spoke English. Upon returning to Adelaide, I invited Lama Yeshe to teach here in 1981 and we started Buddha House. I have been in the role of Director and Spiritual Program Coordinator many times over the last 44 years, whilst bringing up a family, studying at university, and having a rewarding career working at the Cancer Council running the Quitline, developing programs for people quitting smoking, and health workers supporting quitters. I have been the Director of Buddha House this time for nearly eight years.
